5 startups sign agreement with TNAU's Biotech Centre of Excellence.

Five companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Centre of Excellence in Biotechnology at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in Coimbatore to use the cabin space available there to further their research efforts.

This agreement was struck in the presence of the university’s Vice-Chancellor, V. Geethalakshmi.

The Centre of Excellence in Biotechnology at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has a total area of 1.06 lakh sq.ft and was launched on March 13th this year by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who also virtually inaugurated a large number of finished projects in three districts from Pollachi.

Through this initiative, the university hopes to foster research activities in critical sectors such as agricultural science, food technology, green biotechnology, biosynthesis, bioresource utilisation, and bioinformatics, which are expected to contribute significantly to agricultural advancements by fostering high productivity, addressing climate change, and developing disease-resistant crops.

During the inaugural, ten startups/established companies requested cabin space and eight companies requested floorspace in the CoE in Biotechnology to expand their research activities, and an agreement was reached between the CoEB in Biotechnology, TNAU, and two companies, Aiva Organics Stores, Chennai, and GreenOcean Research Labs Pvt Ltd.

In the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, the director of this COE, Senthil Natesan, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) today on behalf of the Centre of Excellence in Biotechnology, Coimbatore with five start-up companies: M/s. Oneomics Pvt Ltd, Ms. Jini Narayanan (Scientisit), M/s. Bhumar Agro Foods Industries, M/s. Maha Sakthi Natural, and M/s. Universe Food Products, to facilitate the cabin space to develop their research activities.
