Coimbatore: The EUR 10.8 billion retail conglomerate with more than 33,000 employees active in four countries, Colruyt Group has inaugurated its second IT Global Capability Centre here. The first GCC is based at Hyderabad. The Group operates more than 750 retail stores in Belgium, France, and Luxembourg, supplying products and services in Food, Non-food, Health & Well-being, and Energy & Mobility, through complementary brands.
Since 2007, Colruyt Group opened its first GCC in Hyderabad and is steadily increasing the scope of its services offered to India from IT to multiple business units within the Group. On July 1st, 2024, the Group opened an office in Coimbatore. It brought together the single largest gathering of His Excellency Didier Vanderhasselt, Ambassador of Belgium to India, as Chief Guest of the function. The Guest of Honor was Padma Shri Dr. G. Bakthavathsalam, Chairman of the KG Hospital. Some of the other prominent guests included Thiru V. Balakrishnan, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City; Peter Vanbellingen, Group Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Colruyt Group, Belgium; and MD & Head of Colruyt Group India, Hari Subramanian. They were joined by Ashok Bakthavathsalam, CMD KGiSL; Arjun Prakash, President Effica Automation; Prasanth Subramanian, Co-Founder Quadra Systems; G. Radhakrishnan, MD Sieger Spintech; Bhaskar Varma, Regional Director NASSCOM for TN & Karnataka; and other eminent members, business partners from CII, NASSCOM, and several educational institutions.

The addition of the Coimbatore location underpins the Colruyt Group India strategy in supporting business continuity of IT operations and services to the Group; the new facility in Coimbatore is likely to witness steady and progressive growth in the next few years.
