Government Botanical Garden will host the 126th Annual Ooty Flower Show starting on May 17.
Nilgiris district collector M. Aruna announced on Thursday, March 7, 2024, that the 126th Annual Ooty Flower Show will take place over six days, from May 17 to May 22, at the Government Botanical Garden (GBG) in Udhagamandalam.
Besides, the 64th Fruit Show is to be held at the Sims Park in Coonoor from May 24 to May 26. Decisions on whether the Rose Show, Vegetable Show and Spice Show will be taken at a later date, Ms. Aruna said, adding that no decision on holding the three other shows would be made till the announcement of the dates on which the Lok Sabha elections are to be held.
According to Ms. Aruna, further steps will be made to guarantee that attendees of the Flower and Fruit Shows will have sufficient access to sanitary restrooms and clean drinking water. She indicated that if there were any shortages of water, municipal tankers would transport water from several sources of drinking water to popular tourist destinations.
In order to serve visitors, the collector stated that self-help organizations would also be permitted to open stores in both parks that would provide millet-based snacks and meals.
