Anand Mahindra explains how his company assisted the Kalki team with ‘Bujji’.

Anand Mahindra recently shared how his team and Coimbatore-based Jayam Motors designed and manufactured the robot car “Bujji” for the upcoming science fiction film “Kalki 2898 AD,” directed by Nag Ashwin and starring Prabhas. Bujji, powered by two Mahindra e-motors, was unveiled at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.

Mahindra, the chairman of the Mahindra Group, praised Ashwin and his filmmakers for their visionary approach. On X (formerly Twitter), Mahindra wrote, “We’re so proud of @nagashwin7 and his tribe of filmmakers who aren’t afraid to think big… and I mean REALLY big.”

He added that the Mahindra Research Valley team in Chennai played a crucial role by simulating the powertrain configuration, architecture, and performance for Bujji. Jayem Automotives then brought the design to life. Ashwin thanked Mahindra, saying, “Thank you sir… for helping us dream the impossible… and for giving our #bujji its wings (tyres…).”

At the Hyderabad event, Ashwin revealed the challenges faced in creating the film and Bujji. Without an engineering background, he reached out to Mahindra on Twitter, who connected him with Jayam Motors. Ashwin emphasized the extensive research required to design and build a vehicle with such special features.

Bujji plays a key role in “Kalki 2898 AD” as Bhairava’s loyal and humorous partner. A teaser titled ‘BhairavaXBujji’ was released, showcasing Bujji alongside Prabhas’ character, Bhairava.

The film also stars Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Disha Patani, and Kamal Haasan.
