Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi has called a high-level strategy meeting on July 15 ahead of the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament, which will run from July 21 to August 21.
The session has been extended by a week from the initial schedule, indicating a busy legislative agenda.
The meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Strategy Group, led by Sonia Gandhi, is expected to include senior leaders such as Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.
The focus will be on finalizing the party’s approach to several critical national issues expected to dominate the session.
Among the key topics on Congress’s agenda are the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, which the party has criticized as unconstitutional, and national security matters such as the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
The party also intends to raise questions over recent claims by former U.S. President Donald Trump regarding mediation in the Indo-Pakistan conflict.
Economic issues, including rising inflation, unemployment, and the impact of new U.S. trade tariffs on India, will also feature prominently in the discussions.
Congress aims to coordinate with other opposition parties to present a unified stance on these issues during the session.
The meeting underscores the party’s efforts to mount a strong opposition in Parliament and hold the government accountable on multiple fronts during the Monsoon Session.
