Ooty Boat Race Started in Ooty for Summer Festivities!
The Nilgiris district came alive with the exciting Ooty Boat Race, inaugurated on Friday by District Collector M. Aruna at the scenic Ooty Lake and Boat House. This crowd-pleasing event, open to all participants including tourists and locals, runs until today, June 2nd, 2024.
The races featured a variety of categories to cater to everyone’s competitive spirit, with contests for men’s and women’s doubles, rowers, media personnel, couples, and even government staff. After a thrilling display of teamwork and paddling prowess, Ms. Aruna herself presented prizes to the well-deserved winners in each category.
But the fun didn’t stop at the races! The event was preceded by captivating cultural performances that kept visitors to the boat house entertained. This exciting boat race is a collaborative effort between the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) and the Nilgiris district administration, adding another layer to the vibrant Nilgiris Summer Festival.
The festival has already seen a record-breaking turnout, with over 14.07 lakh visitors gracing the Nilgiris since its May 7th kick-off. This includes the popular Rose Show, Fruit Show, and Flower Show, making it a truly delightful experience for tourists. With schools reopening in June, the administration anticipates the tourist influx to continue for a while longer.
So, if you’re in the neighborhood, don’t miss your chance to be a part of the Ooty Boat Race and soak in the joyous atmosphere of the Nilgiris Summer Festival!
