The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai has issued a rainfall warning for several districts in Tamil Nadu, including Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Erode, Tiruppur, Vellore, and Ranipet, predicting moderate to heavy rainfall today, October 24, 2025.
According to the latest weather bulletin, the change in wind patterns and moisture flow from the Bay of Bengal has intensified cloud formation over western and northern Tamil Nadu. As a result, rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected in multiple areas.
🚨 Districts Under Rain Alert (24.10.2025):
- Coimbatore
- Nilgiris
- Erode
- Tiruppur
- Vellore
- Ranipet
The Meteorological Department has advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in hilly and low-lying regions. Motorists are urged to drive carefully as slippery roads and reduced visibility may cause disruptions.
🌦️ Safety Advisory:
- Carry umbrellas or raincoats when outdoors.
- Avoid parking vehicles under weak trees or electric poles.
- Stay updated with local weather forecasts.
- Farmers are advised to take precautionary measures to protect crops from heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Disaster Management Authority (TNDMA) has put all six district administrations on high alert to handle potential waterlogging or flood-related emergencies. Local bodies have been instructed to keep stormwater drains clear to prevent stagnation.
Authorities have also advised residents living near riverbanks and low-lying areas to remain cautious, as moderate flooding could occur if rainfall intensifies in the evening.
☁️ Despite the wet weather, this rainfall is likely to provide much-needed relief from the heat and boost groundwater levels in several districts.
