The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially accepted the resignation of T. Raja Singh, the MLA from Goshamahal constituency in Telangana.
The resignation, dated June 30, followed Raja Singh’s public disagreement with the party’s leadership decision to appoint N. Ramchander Rao as the new state BJP president.
In his resignation letter, Singh criticized the appointment, claiming it was influenced by a “backroom coterie” and expressing concern that it would demoralize grassroots workers and harm the party’s prospects in the state.
Raja Singh, known for his outspoken stance and strong Hindutva positioning, emphasized that he was stepping down from the party but not its ideology. He described the leadership change as “shocking and disappointing” for thousands of dedicated BJP workers in Telangana.
Responding to the resignation, BJP national general secretary Arun Singh confirmed that the party had accepted Raja Singh’s resignation with immediate effect. The party termed Singh’s allegations as irrelevant and inconsistent with its functioning, ideology, and principles.
The acceptance of his resignation was issued under the directive of BJP president J.P. Nadda. Raja Singh has served as a three-term MLA and was one of the BJP’s most vocal figures in Telangana politics.
His departure is seen as a significant development that may lead to a by-election in Goshamahal and could impact the BJP’s internal dynamics in the run-up to future elections.
